What is a boil water advisory?

Answer

A Boil Advisory is issued when the water pressure drops below 20 psi. An advisory is precautionary only and does not necessarily mean that the tap water is contaminated, it only means that the water ‘could be contaminated’; therefore, precautionary measures are recommended. When an Advisory is issued it is recommended you boil your drinking water for one minute to kill any possible bacteria. A Boil Advisory will remain in effect for at least 24-48 hours until the test samples are returned in a positive manner.
